Animal Assisted Activity Visitations primarily focus on visiting patients, residents, and individuals in varied facilities or private homes. These visitations focus on mental, physical, social and emotional stimulation with an emphasis on pleasant, "warm fuzzy" interactions. Usually, and if the person is able to, there is conversation and petting of the animal. General animal-human interaction is common. These visits can be very rewarding for all involved and are the most often used of Inspired Harmony's services.
Animal Assisted Therapy Sessions are performed in cooperation with a medical or social service professional as part of a therapy plan. These visitations focus on mental, physical, social and emotional stimulation with an emphasis on measurable objectives for therapy. For example, attempting to groom the horse uses and challenges motor skills in physical therapy.
Each visitation or therapy session is unique. However, the following defines a standard.
- All visitation is via the approval of the administering office for those residing in facilities. - All visitation is via the approval of the responsible party for individuals residing in private homes. - All types of facilities and any age group are considered for visitation requests. - One miniature horse and one handler is present at visitation. - Special events or presentations requests may include more than one horse and handler. - Miniature horses are bathed and meticulously groomed for visitation/event days. - Handler is trained by Delta Society. Horses are tested by Delta Society. - Handler and Horse are registered with and insured by Delta Society Pet Partners. - There is no charge for our services. Donations are accepted but not expected, for travel expenses. |
